Code of ethics and ethical culture

in the organization

Development of Responsible Business Practices, Employment Policies and Ethical Conduct: Survey (Sofia, Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum, 2000. ISBN 954-90395-2-8) is one of the first manuals for writing a corporate code of ethics in Bulgaria. It was a challenge and a pleasure to work in a team with a manager from KPMG – global professional services network, as well as with two of my excellent students in Business ethics.

Тhe manual still gives ideas to apply to maintain an ethical organizational culture. It can serve as a model even today. Business organizations develop codes of ethics to promote integrity (“почтеност in Bulgarian) among their employees and gain trust from investors and consumers. While codes of ethics have become common, the quality varies. Almost every company now has a code of ethical behavior – in part, that’s because digital communication have made it easier.

The important thing here is to have a real effect of improving organizational ethics and well-being. The latter term – organizational well-being – is an example of a new key concept that has emerged and established itself in the reflection on organizational life and its management.
